RFM Productions is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit media organization working to strengthen Latin American leadership and representation in climate action. Through independent media, environmental storytelling, education, disaster resilience initiatives, and international collaboration, we connect communities and local knowledge with audiences and institutions capable of advancing meaningful change.
Our work is grounded in a simple principle: the people and communities closest to environmental change should have a meaningful role in telling their stories and shaping the solutions that affect their futures.
Through media production, field reporting, digital storytelling, climate diplomacy, education, and strategic campaigns, RFM Productions connects local experiences with regional and global audiences. We believe Latin America—home to some of the planet’s most important ecosystems, cultures, and climate solutions—must play a central role in shaping responses to climate change and environmental challenges.
We produce and distribute stories from communities affected by earthquakes, wildfires, floods, extreme weather, environmental degradation and other climate and natural hazards, connecting local realities with regional and international audiences.

Our mission is to elevate Latin American perspectives, science, culture, and youth leadership through independent and accessible media while strengthening public understanding of climate change, biodiversity, disaster recovery, and environmental solutions.
From Los Angeles to communities across Latin America, RFM Productions uses storytelling as a bridge—connecting local experiences with regional and global conversations about climate, resilience, and the environment.
Since inception, our campaigns and program designs have emerged from local needs and direct community engagement. RFM Productions works alongside youth, community leaders, local organizations, environmental advocates, Indigenous and frontline communities, and storytellers across Latin America to understand the environmental challenges affecting their communities and the solutions they believe deserve greater attention.
This community-driven approach is at the foundation of our work. Rather than arriving with predetermined priorities, RFM listens to local perspectives and uses them to shape our Climate & Impact Media, Disaster Resilience & Recovery, Youth Climate Leadership, Voices & Representation, and Climate Diplomacy & Partnerships programs.
From documenting climate impacts and disaster recovery to developing youth-led campaigns, elevating underrepresented voices, and connecting local perspectives with regional and global climate conversations, our projects are shaped by the people closest to the issues. Their knowledge and lived experiences help guide the stories we tell, the partnerships we build, and the audiences we seek to reach.
In this way, RFM works with communities, not simply about them—connecting local knowledge and voices with media, education, and national and international platforms to build awareness, strengthen representation, and advance locally driven solutions.
RFM Productions believes that a high-quality visual presentation of the lifestyle and challenges of marginalized communities can present a better picture of the side effects that natural disasters, environmental pollution, and illegal human activities create for these communities. The documentary includes 9 countries that share the rainforest. These countries are Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Colombia, Brazil, and Venezuela whereas Peru is the pilot.Â

The nine countries – home to the Latin Amazon – Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana have been threatened by commercial logging, mining and illegal exploitation for decades. People may not know or choose to ignore its history, but these countries have been vowing to safeguard the Amazon for decades even pledging to reverse forestation by 2030 but deforestation prevails.Â
However, many tribes have always understood the need to respect their environment without non-native or foreign people present, for humanity’s wellbeing and healing. The Amazon has over 400 tribes each with its own language, culture, and territory. We believe the stigma towards Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) exists because of misleading narratives by oppressive groups that must also be reserved to stop deforestation, not the other way around.
RFM’s BIPOC Amazon Project expands on this fundamental understanding and seeks to directly address the historical gaps in building a true and sustainable solidarity for natives.
This approach is the only promising way forward, if Black Indigenous People of Color and local communities keep being burdened, overpromised, and consulted in the environmental regulation process by leaders who are often shortsighted and merely checking a box, we will not find a solution to the climate crisis. The BIPOC communities should hold power, be compensated, admired, celebrated and their rights and way of life must be respected. Our approach will make that possible.

Our award winning campaigns have reached more than 65 million people, connecting environmental stories from Latin America with audiences around the world. Today, we are active across 9 Latin American countries, developing locally driven climate and environmental media, including work throughout the Amazon region.
We have engaged 2,000+ young people in disaster recovery and climate resilience and amplified 30+ climate stories from underrepresented communities, helping bring local experiences, environmental challenges, and community-led solutions to wider audiences.
Our impact extends beyond numbers. From communities recovering from disasters to young people participating in international climate forums, our work is designed to expand who is seen, who is heard, and who has the opportunity to shape the climate conversation.

RFM’s BIPOC Amazon Project expands on this fundamental understanding and seeks to directly address the historical gaps in building true and sustainable solidarity for natives in the following way:
Mobilizing the regional communities who share a goal of racial empowerment by reversing the historical ways BIPOC have been viewed and treated in their own native lands. Our mobilization focuses on the importance of respecting the natives, being pro-indigenous culture and ceasing foreign supremacy. Â
These pillars are internalized and show up in mutually reinforcing, distinct, and specific ways within Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities and must be reversed as they impede efforts to protect the environment and collaborate across differences without destruction, violence, corruption, and inequality.
Our fieldwork disrupts the call for “global accord” by highlighting explicit dynamics of the imbalance of power across intersectional sectors and identities by focusing on the root causes of environmental degradation and the racial hierarchical power struggles that is underpinned by native invisibility, anti-indigenous activities, foreign supremacy, and the historical disadvantages of BIPOC communities who are living on the margins of oppressive regimes.
We seek to educate by intentionally reframing the Indigenous/Foreign binary to cultivate a deeper analysis of the environmental crisis among a wider group of BIPOC and native communties to call oppressive regimes into racial climate justice work; and
we entertain the young adult instead of bringing their generation to despair by offering a vision of environmental solidarity rooted in a reimagined relationship between BIPOC to their land, heads of states and policies that are pro-indigenous and anti-white supremacist society.
This approach is the only promising way forward, as long as Black Indigenous People of Color and local communities are not only fully consulted in the process by leaders who are checking a box we will not solve the climate crisis.

Elevates Latin American, Indigenous, frontline, and historically underrepresented perspectives through independent media, helping ensure communities directly affected by environmental change are visible within the conversations shaping their futures.
Climate Diplomacy & Partnerships
Builds connections among communities, nonprofits, researchers, governments, media, and international institutions to strengthen cooperation and bring Latin American knowledge and perspectives into regional and global climate action.
