RFM Productions is a Los Angeles\u2013based nonprofit media organization working to strengthen Latin American leadership and representation in climate action. Through independent media, environmental storytelling, education, disaster resilience initiatives, and international collaboration, we connect communities and local knowledge with audiences and institutions capable of advancing meaningful change.<\/p>

Our work is grounded in a simple principle: the people and communities closest to environmental change should have a meaningful role in telling their stories and shaping the solutions that affect their futures.<\/p>

Through media production, field reporting, digital storytelling, climate diplomacy, education, and strategic campaigns, RFM Productions connects local experiences with regional and global audiences. Since inception, our campaigns and program designs have emerged from local needs and direct community engagement. RFM Productions works alongside youth, community leaders, local organizations, environmental advocates, Indigenous and frontline communities, and storytellers across Latin America to understand the environmental challenges affecting their communities and the solutions they believe deserve greater attention.
This community-driven approach is at the foundation of our work. Rather than arriving with predetermined priorities, RFM listens to local perspectives and uses them to shape our Climate & Impact Media, Disaster Resilience & Recovery, Youth Climate Leadership, Voices & Representation, and Climate Diplomacy & Partnerships programs.
From documenting climate impacts and disaster recovery to developing youth-led campaigns, elevating underrepresented voices, and connecting local perspectives with regional and global climate conversations, our projects are shaped by the people closest to the issues. Their knowledge and lived experiences help guide the stories we tell, the partnerships we build, and the audiences we seek to reach.

RFM Productions believes that a high-quality visual presentation of the lifestyle and challenges of marginalized communities can present a better picture of the side effects that natural disasters, environmental pollution, and illegal human activities create for these communities. The documentary includes 9 countries that share the rainforest. Os nove pa\u00edses - casa da Amaz\u00f4nia - Peru, Bol\u00edvia, Brasil, Col\u00f4mbia, Equador, Venezuela, Guiana, Suriname e Guiana Francesa est\u00e3o sendo amea\u00e7ados por explora\u00e7\u00e3o comercial de madeira e minera\u00e7\u00e3o ilegal por d\u00e9cadas. As pessoas talvez n\u00e3o saibam ou decidam ignorar a hist\u00f3ria, mas estes pa\u00edses juram proteger a Amaz\u00f4nia h\u00e1 d\u00e9cadas e ainda prometeram reflorestar at\u00e9 2030, mas o desmatamento prevalece.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Contudo, muitos povos ind\u00edgenas sempre entenderam a necessidade de respeito com o meio ambiente sem a presen\u00e7a dos povos n\u00e3o-nativos ou estrangeiros, para o devido cuidado com a humanidade e a sa\u00fade. A Amaz\u00f4nia tem mais de 400 povos, cada um com sua pr\u00f3pria l\u00edngua, cultura e territ\u00f3rio. N\u00f3s acreditamos que o estigma contra povos ind\u00edgenas e popula\u00e7\u00e3o negra existe por conta das narrativas err\u00f4neas por grupos opressores que tamb\u00e9m devem ser usados para parar o desmatamento, e n\u00e3o de outra forma.<\/span><\/p>

O Projeto Povos Tradicionais Amaz\u00f4nicos da RFM se aplica a este entendimento fundamental e busca se dirigir \u00e0s falhas hist\u00f3ricas, buscando construir uma verdadeira e sustent\u00e1vel solidariedade para os nativos.<\/span><\/p>

Esta abordagem \u00e9 a \u00fanica forma promissora, se os povos ind\u00edgenas e comunidades locais mantiverem sendo sobrecarregados, obtiverem promessas demasiadas e consultados no processo de regula\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental pelos l\u00edderes que n\u00e3o entendem e que s\u00f3 querem cumprir tarefas, n\u00f3s n\u00e3o vamos encontrar uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o para a crise clim\u00e1tica. Os povos tradicionais deveriam ter o poder, serem compensados, admirados, celebrados e seus direitos e estilos de vidas devem ser respeitados. The nine countries \u2013 home to the Latin Amazon – <\/span>PERU<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>BOL\u00cdVIA<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>BRASIL<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>COL\u00d4MBIA<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>EQUADOR<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>VENEZUELA<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>GUIANA<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>SURINAME<\/span><\/a> e <\/span>GUIANA FRANCESA<\/span><\/a> have been threatened by commercial logging, mining and illegal exploitation for decades. People may not know or choose to ignore its history but these countries have been vowing to safeguard the Amazon for decades even pledging to reverse forestation by 2030 but deforestation prevails.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

However, many tribes have always understood the need to respect their environment without non-native or foreign people present, for humanity\u2019s wellbeing and healing. The Amazon has over 400 tribes each with its own language, culture, and territory. We believe the stigma towards Black Indigenous People of Color exists because of misleading narratives by oppressive groups that must also be reversed to reverse deforestation, not the other way around.<\/span><\/p>

RFM\u2019s BIPOC Amazon Project expands on this fundamental understanding and seeks to directly address the historical gaps in building true and sustainable solidarity for natives in the following way:<\/span><\/p>


<\/span>Mobilizing the regional communities who share a goal of racial empowerment by reversing the historical ways BIPOC have been viewed and treated in their own native lands. Our mobilization focuses on the importance of respecting the natives, being pro-indigenous culture and ceasing foreign supremacy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

These pillars are internalized and show up in mutually reinforcing, distinct, and specific ways within Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities and must be reversed as they impede efforts to protect the environment and collaborate across differences without destruction, violence, corruption, and inequality.<\/span><\/p>

<\/span>Our fieldwork disrupts the call for \u201cglobal accord\u201d by highlighting explicit dynamics of the imbalance of power across intersectional sectors and identities by focusing on the root causes of environmental degradation and the racial hierarchical power struggles that is underpinned by native invisibility, anti-indigenous activities, foreign supremacy, and the historical disadvantages of BIPOC communities who are living on the margins of oppressive regimes.<\/span><\/p>


<\/span>We seek to educate by intentionally reframing the Indigenous\/Foreign binary to cultivate a deeper analysis of the environmental crisis among a wider group of BIPOC and native communties to call oppressive regimes into racial climate justice work; and<\/span><\/p>

we entertain the young adult instead of bringing their generation to despair by offering a vision of environmental solidarity rooted in a reimagined relationship between BIPOC to their land, heads of states and policies that are pro-indigenous and anti-white supremacist society.<\/span><\/p>

We envision a future in which Latin American communities are not simply the subjects of climate stories, but leaders, storytellers, experts, and decision-makers within the global climate movement.<\/span><\/p>

Across the Amazon and other rainforest regions of Latin America, RFM Productions uses independent media to raise awareness of threats to biodiversity, traditional knowledge, cultural heritage, and communities whose livelihoods are deeply connected to the natural environment.<\/span><\/p>
